FEFE Project

FEFE in a nutshell

In the FEFE (Further East from the East) project Finnish expertise in ageing-related issues and well-developed product and service solutions in welfare and care sectors are utilized to promote active ageing and quality of life of the elderly in China. The main objectives are to build an interactive Finland–China Senior Gateway for transferring knowledge, training and education, create a network of Finnish enterprises and educational institutions, and promote their internationalization skills. FEFE cooperates closely with national actors, regional development companies and other China experts.

FEFE is administered by Karelia University of Applied Sciences and implemented jointly with Regional Council of North Karelia. European Regional Development Fund has funded the project for the period of 2016–2017.

Basis for FEFE: need to promote quality of life of elderly

Both China and Finland are facing the challenges of the changing age structure. China is willing to utilize international experience in order to find new solutions. Finland has successfully developed education as well as product and service solutions related to ageing. Cooperation between China and Finland will bring real benefits for both countries.

Building a gateway to China

The main objective of the FEFE project is to build an interactive Finland–China Senior Gateway for transferring ageing-related knowledge, training and education. In the project will be created a network of Finnish enterprises and educational institutions, which are interested in international business. Members of the network are experts in education, health tourism or services and smart technologies related to well-being. FEFE will promote the members in internationalization process and in innovation of new products and services.
